"Blyton, Enid - Famous Five 10 - Five On a Hike Together" - читать интересную книгу автора (Blyton Enid)СYouТre not afraid of anyone,Т said Dick. СYouТre the bravest girl I ever knew! Aha! ThatТs made old George blush like a girl! Let me warm my hands, George!Т
And Dick held his hands up in front of GeorgeТs scarlet face, pretending to warm them at her fiery blush. She didnТt know whether to be pleased or angry. She pushed his hands away and got up, looking more like a boy than ever with her short tousled hair and her well-freckled face! The others got up and stretched. Then they settled their rucksacks on their backs again, with their macs fastened to them, threw their blazers over their shoulders and set oft down Fallaway Hill. Timmy followed, but he didnТt bound about as usual. He went slowly and carefully. George looked round for him, and frowned. СWhat is the matter with Timmy?Т she said. СLook at him! Not a jump or a scamper in him!Т They all stopped and watched him. He came towards them and they saw that he was limping slightly with his left hind leg. George dropped down beside him and felt the leg carefully. СI think he must have twisted it - sprained it or something, when he was down that rabbit-hole,Т she said. She patted him gently on the back and he winced. СWhatТs the matter, Tim?Т said George, and she parted the hair on his back, examining the white skin underneath to see why he had winced when she had patted him. СHeТs got an awful bruise here,Т she said at last, and the others bent to see. СSomething must have hurt his back down in that hole. And Anne must have hurt one of his legs when she held on to them and dragged him out. I told you not to hold on to his legs, Anne.Т СWell, how were we to get him out if I didnТt?Т demanded Anne, feeling cross but rather guilty. СDid you want him to stick there for days and days?Т СI donТt think thereТs much damage done,Т said Julian, feeling the hind leg. СI honestly think heТs only just twisted it a bit, George. HeТll be all right after tonight, IТm sure.Т СBut I must be certain,Т said George. СDid you say we come to a village soon, Ju?Т СYes - Beacons Village,Т said Julian, СWe can ask if thereТs a vet anywhere in the district if you like. HeТll look at TimmyТs leg and tell you if thereТs anything much wrong. But I donТt think there is.Т СWeТll go on to the village then,Т said George. СOh dear - the only time I ever wish Timmy was a little dog is when heТs hurt - because heТs so very very heavy to carry.Т СWell, donТt think of carrying him yet,Т said Dick. 'He can walk on three legs even if he canТt on four! HeТs not as bad as all that, are you, Timmy?Т СWoof,Т said Timmy, mournfully. He was rather enjoying all the fuss. George patted his head. СCome on,Т she said, СweТll soon get that leg put right. Come on, Tim.Т They all went on, looking round to see how Timmy was getting on. He followed slowly, and then began to limp more badly. Finally he lifted his left hind leg up from the ground and ran on three legs only. СPoor boy,Т said George. СPoor Timmy! I do hope his leg will be all right tomorrow. I canТt possibly go on with the hike if it isnТt.Т It was rather a gloomy company that came to Beacons Village, Julian made his way to a little inn that stood in the middle, called Three Shepherds. A woman was shaking a duster out of a window, Julian called up to her. СI say! Is there a vet anywhere in this district? I want someone to have a look at our dogТs leg.Т СNo. No vet here,Т answered the woman. СNot one nearer than Marlins over six miles away.Т GeorgeТs heart sank. Timmy would never be able to walk six miles. СIs there a bus?Т she called. СNo. Not to Marlins,Т said the woman. СNo bus goes there, missy. But if you want your dogТs leg seen to, you go up to Spiggy House, up along there. Mr. Gaston lives there with his horses, and he knows about dogs too. You take the dog there. HeТll know what to do.Т СAbout half a mile,Т said the woman. СSee that hill? You go up there, take the turning to the right and youТll see a big house. ThatТs Spiggy House. You canТt mistake it because of the stables built all round it. Ask for Mr. Gaston. HeТs nice, he is. Maybe youТll have to wait a little if heТs out with his horses though - he may not be in till itТs almost dark Т The four held a little council. СWeТd better go up to this Mr. GastonТs, I think,Т said Julian. СBut I think you and Anne, Dick, should go on to the farm-house I planned to stay in for the night, and make arrangements for us. We donТt want to leave it till the last minute. IТll go with George and Timmy, of course.Т СRight,Т said Dick. СIТll take Anne now. It will be dark pretty soon. Got your torch, Julian?Т СYes,Т said Julian. СAnd IТm pretty good at finding my way, as you know. I shall come back to this village after weТve been to Mr. GastonТs, and then make straight for the farm-house. ItТs about a mile and a half away.Т СThanks awfully for saying youТll come with me, Julian,Т said George. СLetТs go now, shall we? Well, Dick and Anne - see you later!Т Julian set off with George and Timmy up the hill to Spiggy House. Timmy went on three legs, and still seemed very sorry for himself. Anne and Dick watched him, feeling sorry for him. СI hope heТs all right tomorrow,Т said Dick. СIt will spoil our week-end if heТs not, no doubt about that!Т They turned away and walked through the little village of Beacons. СNow for Blue Pond Farm-house,Т said Dick. СJulian didnТt give me very clear directions, I think IТll ask someone exactly where it is.Т But they met nobody except a man driving a little cart. Dick hailed him and he pulled up his horse. СAre we on the right road for Blue Pond Farm-house?Т shouted Dick. СAr,Т answered the man, nodding his head. СIs it straight on - or do we take any paths or little lanes?Т asked Dick, СAr,Т said the man, nodding again. СWhat does he mean - УarФ?Т said Dick. He raised his voice again. СIs it this way?Т and he pointed. СAr,Т said the man again. He raised his whip and pointed up the road where the two were going, and then across to the west. СOh, I see - we turn to the right up there?Т called Dick. СAr,Т said the man, nodding, and drove on so suddenly that the horse almost stepped on DickТs foot. СWell - if we find the farm-house after all those УarsФ weТll be clever,Т said Dick. СCome on!Т Chapter Five ANNE AND DICK |
