тАЬWhat hole is this?тАЭ

тАЬDonтАЩt know.тАЭ Dalton crossed the boundary and continued walking.

тАЬWhere are you going?тАЭ

тАЬTo play golf,тАЭ Dalton said over his shoulder. тАЬWhy, whatтАЩs wrong?тАЭ

тАЬI donтАЩt like the look of it.тАЭ

тАЬItтАЩs a course, isnтАЩt it?тАЭ

тАЬNow, wait just a тАж oh, bother.тАЭ

Thaxton picked up his bag and followed.

Dalton was already teeing up. He straightened, walked to the edge of the terrace, and surveyed the
course. There was a steep drop off the tee but most of the fairway was level.

тАЬLooks about a par five,тАЭ Dalton said. тАЬThey must have done some landscaping.тАЭ

тАЬWhen? There hasnтАЩt been time.тАЭ

тАЬMagic, I guess.тАЭ

Thaxton looked back. The portal was a standing oblong of grayness set against the greenery. тАЬShouldnтАЩt
we check with the groundkeeper? I canтАЩt see the clubhouse anywhere.тАЭ

Dalton addressed the ball. тАЬOh, itтАЩs around somewhere.тАЭ

тАЬI want a caddy.тАЭ

тАЬThe exercise wonтАЩt do you harm.тАЭ

тАЬSee here. Are you going to just go ahead and play?тАЭ

тАЬWhy not? ItтАЩs a lovely course. Looks like theyтАЩve thinned the rough out a bit.тАЭ

Castle War

Thaxton scowled. тАЬI donтАЩt know about this.тАЭ

Dalton swung. The ball arched on a perfect trajectory and landed about two hundred yards down the
middle of the fairway.

тАЬTopping drive,тАЭ Thaxton said.
