"I'm really flying!" She circled the kitchen, then floated out into the living room and made several "Wheeee! I'm flying! I'm flying!" " Uncle Merlin, I want to fly, too!" Michelle demanded. "You do?" said Merlin. "Yes, please? Please, can't I fly, like Christine?" "You want to be a bird, as well?" "Oh, yes, please! I want to be a bird!" "Then flap your wings," said Merlin. Michelle began to flap her arms enthusiastically and she, too, rose up into the air and floated off to join Christine in flying laps around the living room. "I'm a bird! I'm a bird!" she cried. "Tom," said Jenny, "for God's sake, pinch me so I know I I'm not dreaming!" "If you are, then I'm having the same dream," I said. "Ouch!" |
