The four kids had stumbled onto each other and a young pastor, Bruce Barnes, atNew HopeVillage
Churchin their town,Mount Prospect,Illinois. Bruce taught that the vanishings had been foretold in the
Bible and that the worldwide event was the rapture of thechurchofJesus Christ. True believers had been
taken to heaven.

Ryan was the last of the four to make the decision to believe in Christ, to trust Jesus for forgiveness of
sin, and to assure himself that he would go to be with God when he died.

While dealing with their grief and fear over the loss of their families, the four strived to learn as much as
they could about what had happened and what was to come.

Bruce taught that the Rapture was not the beginning of the seven-year tribulation, where the earth and its
people would suffer. Rather, he said, the Bible indicated that a great leader would arise, the Antichrist,
the great enemy of God. He would make a pact withIsrael, and the day that was signed would signal the
beginning of the seven years.

Judd, for one, was proud to be a part of this little group, in this church, under this pastor. Judd and his
friends were just kids to some people, but they called themselves the Young Tribulation Force. Their task
was clear. Their goal was nothing less than to stand against and fight the enemies of God during the seven
most chaotic years the planet would ever see.



Danger on the Road

JUDD was stunned. Vicki was gone.

тАЬWhere is she?тАЭ he demanded.

Lionel and Ryan looked up from their spots on the floor before the TV.

Ryan shrugged.

тАЬThereтАЩs a note by the phone.тАЭ
Judd grabbed it and read quickly.

тАЬHitching toMichiganto see Bub.

Back soon. тАЬ

He slapped the note on his thigh and caught himself before he swore.

What was he so mad about? This was his fault.

Vicki had asked him to drive her to see her big brother EddieтАЩs buddy, Judd refused before he thought
about it, telling her he felt responsible for Lionel and Ryan and had better stay with them.

тАЬLet them ride along,тАЭ Vicki had said.

тАЬNah,тАЭ Judd said.
