The three kids went to the side of the house. Judd peered through a crack in one of the boards. He saw
old furniture covered in dust. Cats were perched on windowsills around the room. Suddenly Judd saw a

тАЬGo to the back,тАЭ the woman said through the glass.

The woman ushered the kids inside and said, тАЬYou have to be careful.

Anna doesnтАЩt like me talking to anyone with all thatтАЩs going on.тАЭ

тАЬWhatтАЩs going on?тАЭ Judd said.

тАЬThereтАЩs evil out there,тАЭ the woman said.

тАЬFirst, all those people disappeared. Then this guy fromRomaniatakes over.

Next thing you know, theyтАЩre droppinтАЩ bombs in your backyard. тАЬ

тАЬWeтАЩre looking for somebody,тАЭ Judd said, тАЬa boy on a bike.тАЭ

тАЬThese people hate cats,тАЭ the woman continued.

тАЬThereтАЩs a shortage, you know. A few months ago the shelves were full.

NowthereтАЩs only a few cans left. тАЬ
Judd frowned.

тАЬWhat does cat food have to do with?тАЭ

тАЬIt has everything to do with it. They want control. First they start with the little animals,then they come
for the children. ItтАЩs already started.тАЭ

Judd turned to leave.

тАЬWait,тАЭ Lionel said.

тАЬWhatтАЩs happening to the children?тАЭ

тАЬTheyтАЩre taking the kids away,тАЭ she said.
