тАЬWhere are you?тАЭ

Something groaned beneath Judd. The wind picked up and blew dust into his eyes. When he could see
again, clouds rolled back and a huge crater appeared inches from his feet.

At the bottom of the crater, Taylor Graham lay in a heap. Judd shouted to him, but the pilot didnтАЩt move.
With the ground shifting, he couldnтАЩt risk going afterTaylor.

Judd looked around for help. He was near the house that had disappeared. A tire swing hung from a
tree a hundred yards away, but between Judd and the tree lay another huge gorge.

Judd looked at the sky and gasped. He suddenly remembered the rest of the passage.

The stars of heaven fell to the earth!

Lionel put up his hands as the porch roof crashed down. He fell backward. Support beams landed near
him. If one had hit his head, he knew he would have died instantly. Wood splinters scratched his arms
and tore his pants.

тАЬLionel,тАЭ Conrad called, тАЬcan you hear me?тАЭ

тАЬDonтАЩt come in here,тАЭ Lionel yelled.

тАЬGet away from the building!тАЭ

The second floor caved in behind Lionel, and he could hear the screams of the dying. Lionel dug his way
to the front door. He coughed and tried to get air, but there was so much dust he had to put his shirt over
his face to breathe. There was no light. No way to see which way to go.

The earth shook with such force that Lionel thought he would be killed any minute. It was a miracle any
part of the building still stood.

This was his chance. If he could get out of the house, he could make a break for it. Maybe take Conrad
with him and explain the truth about the Global Community and what the Bible said was happening.

Through the shaking, Lionel found the stairwell and sat in the doorway.

If there was any hope of safety, it was here.

A beam of light trembled with each rattle of the earth. Then a horn.
тАЬLionel, can you hear me?тАЭ Conrad yelled from a car.

тАЬFollow the headlights to find your way out!тАЭ

Lionel moved toward the light and found the biggest opening he could.

He clawed at boards and rocks. The rumbling and shifting continued.

Lionel heard Conrad clearing debris from the other side. As Lionel fell out of the rubble, another shock
sent them both back to the ground. The headlights turned skyward as the car sank into the ground.
