DOOMFARERS OF CORAMONDE, on the inaugural Del Rey list in 1977--died of cardiac arrest. He was 48 years old. Mr. Daley is survived by his wife Lucia St. Clair Robson, the bestselling novelist. Shortly before his death, Mr. Daley finished the radioplay for "Return of the Jedi," after which he returned to work on a monumental science fiction novel called GAMMALAW, for which he had already delivered more than fifteen hundred pages to his longtime editor, Owen Lock. In addition to his two extremely well-received _Coramonde_ fantasy novels and the three-volume science-fiction _Adventures of Alacrity Fitzhugh and Hobart Floyt_, Brian wrote the first _New York Times_ bestselling Star Wars spin-off novels: the three-volume _Adventures of Han Solo_. With James Luceno, Mr. Daley was one half of the "Jack McKinney" who wrote the more than twenty novels of the popular Robotech and Sentinels series. He also wrote a number of lesser-known movie tie-in novels, on each of which he labored as diligently as he did on works entirely of his own creation. He was a professional to the tips of his fingers. The initial three books comprise a science fiction trilogy entitled _Starshield._ The first book in the _Starshield_ series will be published in hardcover in November 1996.
